Hmmm…So much for an eye-catching title!
It might sound blasphemous, even criminal, these days to make *bold* statements like the one aforementioned.
Before you get visions of poor moi munching on stale rotis meant for Moti the three-legged dog, as my step siblings are fed motichur ke laddoos by moi Manoramaesque# stepmother…let me clarify that I’ve had a happy childhood complete with a non-step mother who dotes on moi silly.
Granpa Sigmund Freud would approve.
The problem is, I am all at sea about what ta do on Mother’s day. The milk of motherhood overfloweth all around moi: On the telly, in them papers, in shops selling dainty souvenirs.
Aarrgghhhhhh…am I a bad son?
‘It is a big day,’ I overhead someone on the train.
Is it?
‘The day I was born was the day moi mother became a mother.’
So doesn’t moi birthday qualify ta be a customized Mother’s Day?
They say,
‘Everybody wants to change the world; nobody wants to help mom with the dishes.’
Mebbe I’ll send the maid packing for a day.
Suggestions from *good* children on how ta make this day special for moi gorgeous mom are most welcome.
Now for some gory stuff.
I opened the day’s papers expecting the features ta be choc-a-block with the mahima of Mother’s day. Believe me you, I ain’t disappointed. However, this blood curling headline caught moi eye:
‘Woman flings son down 4 floors.’
The HT’s Mumbai edition reports that ‘A 23-year-old woman dropped her four-year-old son from the fourth floor of a Worli chawl before locking herself in her tenement to ‘watch television’ on Thursday night…
…the police report that the woman got drunk after an argument with her husband, a 29-year-old peon at the Mantralaya, whom she suspected of having an affair…’
Mr. Ramadoss, do you feel vindicated?
Another story on the same page reports the death of a newborn infant, a baby girl, found in a garbage bin in Navi Mumbai.
‘…there was blood all over her and no external injury marks…she probably died after being dumped. The mother probably did not want to take care of the baby…’
Folks, I’ll just go hug moi momma after all…

the glossary was hilarious. True, v hear such stories... i think its high time v left the choice of being a mom on the particular woman... whether she feels fit enuf 2 b a mother & b responsible for another human being's growth.
I like the idea of wishing one's mother 'happy mom's day' on our b'days. thats cool & that sounds more apt :)

I agree.
We often have a stereotype of stepmoms...typified by the Manoramas n Lalita Pawars of Bollywood...not all step mothers are *evil*...
...some *real* mothers can be evil too!
How ta *beget* step dads neeeeeeee
Thankoo for diggin tis one out!

Kamalji,
I was shocked too when I read that piece of news. Unfortunately, mothers attemping suicide kill their kids first...then themselves...
This inebriated woman cannot be called a mother! That would be exalting her...
Thankoo!

yest i read an article abt the person after whom "mothers day" is celebrated...she hated that though..bcoz she saw this day being exploited commercially ...wat with cards, roses, gifts etc being bought....i guess if u love ur mom..u can gift her or love her everyday..instead of celebrating this day as a big affair...
